How to control your child's internet usage ? Seven ways to    control your child's internet usage | Internet safety for Child

Due to the worldwide coronavirus epidemic, on the one hand, the exits for children have almost ceased, on the other hand all kinds of educational institutions, including schools and colleges, have also been closed for a long time. During this period of house arrest, many children have become addicted to the internet as a way to pass the time.

Many educational institutions are running online training programs to compensate for students' loss of education. Children are not excluded from this. As a result, children spend a lot of time on the Internet.

Tech experts say there are two main things parents need to monitor to make their children's internet use safe. One of them is whether children are in any kind of danger while using the Internet. And the second is whether they are involved in any addiction.

These days, cyberbullying is all too common . It is a dangerous place. Another is addiction. Children behave as if they cannot or do not want to live without the Internet.

Checking children's internet usage or monitoring their internet usage can be done with a little awareness by tweaking a few basic things. These include-

1. Use a parental control email account

If kids are given a device, it's safe to use parental control email accounts on it, tech experts say. Google has a parental control system. Through which it is possible to monitor what the child is watching.

Children need an email address to activate the device that is provided to them. And if it's Gmail, there are a few steps you can take. It is possible to create an account for parental control.

If a child is under 13 after adding their birthday when opening an email account, Google will automatically indicate that the account is under parental control. if you want.

If so, you will be prompted for the account to be controlled through someone else's account. That is, it will ask for the email account of any of the parents. Here is an option to provide a father or mother email account.

From then on, this Gmail account will be logged into the entire device account, so what it looks for with it, what apps it installs, what it watches on YouTube-Facebook - everything can then be seen from the parent's email address. It will also be possible to identify where the child went with that device.

Email service providers now have a service to tag accounts with parents. If so, you will see who the child is emailing, who he is talking to.

2. Install some important apps

Parental Safe Browser has an app. If it is installed on a child's device, the child will not be able to view any adult content that uses it.

There is an app called YouTube Kids that creates content with kids in mind. He believes that the government should intervene in this sense.

It is frequently observed that children are using their parents' or mothers' technology. In that scenario there is an app called Safe Browser-Parental Control. According to information technology specialists, you may install it on your computer, laptop, or mobile device and leave it on while youngsters use it.

There is an option to enable-disable this app. Can be used as needed. There are other security-related apps that can be installed to prevent adult content from being displayed in other apps.

Installing "browser extensions" such as small plug-ins on your PC or laptop browser also prevents adult content from being published. Search won't find it either. These "browser extensions" are cost-free.

3. Use the child version option

Facebook and Messenger have child versions of the Internet. If so, children can create an account they use, but parents have the opportunity to supervise.

Facebook has an option that kids can use. Messenger also has options. If someone sends a request to your child there, it will reach you too. They can chat if you give permission.

4. When using the Internet, use caution

It is a good idea to check if the company the internet connection is taken from has a child-safe internet feature.

If this feature is available, there is a way to block certain sites or content from service providers.

Most access points or devices we use to connect to Wi-Fi, such as routers, have some advantages. Through which you can control the use of the Internet.

However, in most cases, once the internet connection companies have established the connection through them, they are no longer displayed.

You have to grab their username and password yourself in order to have control over it. This way, the parental control features should be enabled from the laptop.

5. Set time limits for Internet use

Information technology experts think a certain time should be set for how long children will be online or on the Internet.

To monitor children's Internet use, you need to determine a certain time when the Internet connection will be available at home and when it will not be available.

In this case, Internet service providers or those providing the Internet connection can enter the portal and set the connection time through an application.

Again this can also be done on an individual level. Good quality ISPs have a parental control function. Where can you determine that when any device will have the Internet, what content will be available, which apps will be available and which will not be available.

In addition, social media like YouTube, Facebook also have parental control and age setting system. If this option is activated, some content will not reach children at all.

Any device and browser, including laptops, has these capabilities. They should be on.

"This keeps them away from some unwanted content."

6. Get involved with the child too

Sit down with your child while using the internet. There are various educational channels and websites. Encourage them to watch them. Get them interested in learning or creating something new.

YouTube or other sites use artificial intelligence. Through this, the same type of content that a user sees comes as suggestions.

Children develop a collective vision. And that's why if kids are encouraged to watch good and educational content based on their interests, that content will get to them.

7. Also pay attention to what you are looking at

Usually a WiFi connection is taken in a house and every member of the house shares the same WiFi. Each WiFi device has a specific number or IP address or Internet protocol.

If the parents or adult members of that family search or watch something over and over using that WiFi connection, they are stored in that IP address.

If children or minor household members are also browsing something using the Internet, then that stuff or content also comes before them. And so, tech experts have suggested that parents should be careful while using the internet to keep children away from this type of content.

But in this case, if the parental control Gmail account is used on the children's device, it will filter the adult content away from the children.
