Various warning signs of heart disease have emerged in a report in the Indian newspaper. The report quoted doctors as saying that most people don't understand that heart attack and heart failure are different. The symptoms of a heart attack are also different. On the other hand, heart failure is a completely different disease. So it's very important to be careful. Otherwise, the situation will become fatal.

Renowned medical specialist from Kolkata Dr. Rudrajit Pal said that the number of heart attack patients is increasing now. The heart pumps blood throughout the body. Heart failure reduces the ability to pump this blood. This is the main problem.

He also said that this blood pumping ability is usually measured by the ejection fraction. Its normal level is 60 to 70 percent. But when it drops below 50 percent, it should be clear that heart failure has occurred.

>> Strength in arms and legs decreases. When the heart doesn't pump properly, the brain shunts blood from less important areas of the body to other important organs. As a result, it is difficult to walk even a little and dizzy.

 >> Shortness of breath and cough can also be symptoms of heart failure. In this case, white or pink mucus may come out with a cough.

What is the treatment ?

As water builds up in the body of heart failure patients, medications are given to remove the water. As the patient's heart function is reduced, drugs are given to increase it. Also, because blood is pumped less than the heart, blood clots are more likely to form. Anticoagulants are also given to prevent clotting. In addition to drug treatment, a type of pacemaker-like device known as a CRT can be used to boost the performance of the heart. In addition to this, since heart failure patients have a risk of sudden death due to irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia), CRT-D devices or ICDs are implanted in the heart along with medications to reduce the risk of death.

What foods can patients eat ?

Heart failure patients can eat all kinds of food in moderation. However, excess salt, excess drinks cannot be consumed. If you have diabetes, you should eat regularly to control it.
